Only federally licensed dealers are required to conduct background checks in Wyoming gun sales, under federal law.
There are no Wyoming gun laws requiring the checks for private (non-dealer) gun sales, however.
Overview of Background Checks in Wyoming

Are They Required?
Licensed firearms dealers are required to run background checks under federal law. However, Wyoming buyers with valid concealed weapons permits are exempt from the check.
By contrast, private sellers are not required to do background checks when selling guns in the state. They're not required to do bills of sale either, though some still do for safety.
Eligibility
To pass a background check in Wyoming, you must meet eligibility requirements set by federal and state laws. Here are the list of people who aren’t eligible to own guns on the ATF’s website.
Timeframe
Federal background check timeframes can vary, but the longest most people have to wait is 3 business days.
