How It Works in Georgia
Skip the Stranger, Keep It Legal
You can sell a gun privately in Georgia, and plenty of people do. But you're the one screening the buyer, setting the meeting and hoping it goes fine. Selling to us takes all of that off your plate. You tell us what you have, we make you an offer, and if you like it we send a prepaid shipping label.
You Get a Real Offer, Not a Lowball
Every offer is built on what your specific gun sells for right now: make, model, condition and demand.
Most Georgia offers are ready in under 2 hours.
Federally Licensed Dealer
Georgia law is simple for sellers, but federal law still applies to every sale. We're a federally licensed dealer with SOT status, and we handle the transfer on our end. There's no buyer for you to vet.
Right Next Door
Our licensed headquarters is in Jacksonville, Florida, just over the Georgia line. Your gun doesn't have far to go.

Not Sure What You Have?
Send us photos and we'll tell you. Appraisal is free and there's no obligation to sell.
Get a free appraisal →NFA items (suppressors, short-barreled rifles and shotguns, machine guns) need ATF approval before they change hands, so they don't ship on our standard label. Call us first and we'll walk you through our process.
Straight Talk
How Our Offer Compares to a Private Sale in Georgia
Georgia doesn't require a background check on a private sale, so listing the gun yourself can look like the way to top dollar. In practice you're a seller buyers know nothing about, with no way to take a card, fielding messages, no-shows and last-minute back-outs, and judging whether a stranger can legally own a gun. Once that's counted, a private sale often nets about what we'd pay, or less. If you want the highest price and can wait, ask about consignment: we list the gun and find the buyer. When speed and certainty come first, take our cash offer.

Georgia Rules
Can You Sell a Gun Privately in Georgia?
Yes. Georgia treats handguns and long guns the same way for private sales. Two Georgia residents can buy and sell between themselves without going through a dealer. There's no state background check on a private sale, no waiting period, no gun registration and no permit you need to sell. Cities and counties can't add their own rules on top, because state law reserves gun sales and registration to the state.
There are still rules. You can't sell a handgun to anyone under 18. Federal law bars selling to anyone you know or have reason to believe can't legally own a gun. And a private sale to someone who lives in another state has to go through a licensed dealer. Georgia doesn't require a bill of sale, though a lot of sellers write one for their own records.
Selling to us means the buyer is a federally licensed dealer, so there's no one for you to screen, and the sale is documented on our end.
Private Sales
Legal between Georgia residents, handguns and long guns. No state background check required.
No Waiting Period
Also no gun registration, and no permit needed just to sell.
Age Limit
It's illegal to sell or furnish a handgun to anyone under 18.
Out-of-State Buyers
Federal law requires a sale to someone in another state to go through a licensed dealer.
Bill of Sale
Not required by Georgia law. Many sellers keep one anyway.
Selling to Us
Documented on our end, and you never vet a buyer yourself.

Frequently Asked Questions
What Georgia sellers ask before they ship us a firearm.
Most Georgia sellers do it in three steps. Start by describing your gun online, and we'll come back with a real offer. Accept it and we email a prepaid, insured label. Ship it to our licensed headquarters in Jacksonville, Florida, and you're paid the same day it arrives.
Yes. Two Georgia residents can make a private sale of a handgun or long gun without a dealer or a state background check. You still can't sell to anyone you know or have reason to believe is barred from owning a gun, and you can't sell a handgun to anyone under 18.
Generally yes, if your friend is a Georgia resident who can legally own a gun. If your friend lives in another state, the sale has to go through a licensed dealer under federal law.
Georgia law doesn't require one for a private sale. Many sellers write one anyway for their records. When you sell to us, the sale is documented through a licensed dealer, so you have a record without drafting anything.
Not on a private sale. Georgia has no waiting period, and there's no state background check required between private parties. Licensed dealers run a background check when they sell a gun to a buyer.
Yes, to a licensed dealer like us. Federal law doesn't let you ship a gun to a private buyer in another state, so an online sale to someone out of state has to go through a dealer. We send the prepaid label, and the gun ships to our licensed HQ.
Not long. Jacksonville is just south of the Georgia line, so a package from most of the state arrives in about 1 to 3 business days, on a prepaid, insured label.
Yes. Send us a list or photos of what's in the estate, and we'll appraise everything and make one offer for the whole lot. Spouses, executors and estate attorneys sell to us regularly. Our guide to selling a gun collection or estate covers the details.
