How We Calculate Used Ruger EC9s Values

Ruger EC9s value is affected by the gun’s condition, the variant (and in line with it, finish), and its accessories or upgrades.

Condition and Value

Ruger EC9s condition and value

The value of a Ruger EC9s goes up with its condition. Never-used, new-in-box ones get the best prices in resale, for example.

Condition grades should be based on professional appraisals. Many appraisers charge a fee for their services. However, we can appraise guns for free at Cash for Arms if you’re selling to us.

To see how we professionally evaluate your firearm (for free) and turn that condition into a payout, view our 3-step selling process for a guaranteed FFL offer.

Once you know the condition grade, use these tiers to estimate EC9s value:

How We Appraise Ruger EC9s Models

There are seven Ruger EC9s models. Some of them only differ from each other in their finishes, but since that affects their pricing, we’ll take them up separately.

Black Ruger EC9s Value (Model 3283)

Black Ruger EC9s value

The average used Black Ruger EC9s is worth $70 to $165. A new Black ruger EC9s sells for around $200 to $275 at retail.

This is the base version of this striker-fired pistol. It comes with integrally machined sights, a monochromatic black-oxide finish, and alloy steel construction. At retail, these pistols also ship with a single 7-round mag for 9mm Luger ammo.

Black and Gray Ruger EC9s Value (Model 13201)

Black and Gray Ruger EC9s value

The average used Black and Gray Ruger EC9s is worth $90 to $185. A new Black and Gray Ruger EC9s sells for around $220 to $275 at retail.

This is much the same as the Black base version, but with a two-tone finish. The grip frame on this is gray, but is made of the same materials as the black version.

Black Ruger EC9s with Hogue Grip Sleeve Value (Model 13211)

Black Ruger EC9s with Hogue Grip value

The average used Black Ruger EC9s with Hogue Grip Sleeve is worth $100 to $200. A new Black Ruger EC9s with Hogue Grip Sleeve sells for around $240 to $300 at retail.

This is again much the same gun as the basic Black version. Same 3.12” barrel, same alloy steel construction.

The price bump comes from the inclusion of a Hogue Beavertail HandALL grip sleeve with Cobblestone texturing and finger grooves. Because of this, it also weighs a bit more than other variants at 18 oz. (vs. their 17.2 oz.) and is wider at 1.21” (vs. their 0.90”).

Black and Silver Cerakote Ruger EC9s Value (Model 3290)

Black and Silver Ruger EC9s value

The average used Black and Silver Ruger EC9s is worth $80 to $200. A new Black and Silver Cerakote Ruger EC9s sells for around $260 to $300 at retail.

This was a Sports South Distributor exclusive. It offers a two-tone finish, with silver Cerakote on the nylon grip.

Purple and Aluminum Cerakote Ruger EC9s Value (Model 3295)

Purple and Aluminum Ruger EC9s value

The average used Purple and Aluminum Ruger EC9s is worth $80 to $210. A new Purple and Aluminum Ruger EC9s sells for around $275 to $320 at retail.

Another different-colored version of the EC9s that was produced in limited quantities. It pairs the purple grip with an aluminum Cerakoted slide.

Black and FDE Ruger EC9s Value (Model 3297)

Black and FDE Ruger EC9s value

The average used Black and FDE Ruger EC9s is worth $80 to $180. A new Black and FDE Ruger EC9s sells for around $230 to $275 at retail.

Two-tone with classic shades for firearms. This EC9s pistol pairs the traditional black oxide finish with FDE or flat dark earth.

Turquoise and Aluminum Cerakote Ruger EC9s Value (Model 13200)

Turquoise and Aluminum Ruger EC9s value

The average used Turquoise and Aluminum Ruger EC9s is worth $80 to $160. A new Turquoise and Aluminum Ruger EC9s sells for around $250 to $310.

Another of the brighter-colored versions. This one combines a turquoise (some call it robin’s egg) grip with an aluminum slide.

Value Factor 2: Accessories or Upgrades

Ruger EC9s accessory values

Some accessories can bring up Ruger EC9s value in resale. It’s not guaranteed, however, as buyers sometimes want the gun in stock configuration. That means they won’t pay for what they see as add-ons.

Anyway, if your accessory is of great condition and from a good brand, try offering it to your buyer. Don’t bother if it’s in poor condition or from an unknown manufacturer, however. Those very rarely get bites.

Original Box and Papers

These don’t add as much value as owners of the EC9s might hope because, in the first place, it’s a budget gun. The box itself is also just made of cardboard. Given this, don’t expect too much for it… or for most buyers to want it.

Value: Around $3 to $10 for the matching box and papers.

Spare Magazines

These are fairly popular since the gun only ships with one mag from the factory.

Value: Around $7 to $15 per used mag.

Laser Sight

Probably the most popular option here is the LaserMax Red Laser. That retails for about $95 to $130. If you’ve kept yours in great condition, you may be able to sell it with the gun.

Value: Around 30% to 50% of the accessory’s retail value.

General Questions & Answers

A Ruger EC9s can be a good gun if you want a budget compact pistol for concealed carry. Coming in under $300 even at retail, this is a fairly dependable and good-quality gun for the price. It may be too small or low on features for some, but that’s the trade-off for its pricing.

No, Ruger hasn’t discontinued the EC9s as of the time of writing.

The most common problems with Ruger EC9s are perhaps the gun being on the small side for some hands, a tendency for the gun to be slightly snappy, and the slide being on the stiff side initially. It can also jam with some ammo, but runs very smoothly with most.

The Ruger EC9s can be a pocket carry, but you’ll likely struggle to fit it in some pockets. Deeper pockets like those found in cargo pants work best.
