Georgia does not require bills of sale for gun transactions. Private or non-dealer sellers may use them for peace of mind, but there are no laws mandating them.
Licensed dealers have different rules to follow, so they still ask buyers to fill out Form 4473. That’s required of dealers by federal law.
Anyway, if you’re a non-dealer selling a gun in Georgia and you’d still prefer to cover your bases, we have a free form you can use. Just scroll to it below.

The Required Forms for Gun Sales

1. Form 4473
Form 4473 is required for anyone buying a gun from a federally licensed dealer. With it, the dealer can begin the Georgia background check on their buyers.
Most dealers will provide it to you themselves. You can also get it from here.
2. Georgia Firearm Bill of Sale
The firearm bill of sale may not be required, but it can be legal proof of the transfer of ownership in a gun sale. This provides both buyer and seller something to point to if a dispute arises later.
We recommend keeping a copy of the bill of sale with a photo of your buyer’s or seller’s photo ID. Click on the download link below to get our free form.
