What Affects the Value of a Taurus Judge?
Taurus Judge values are affected by the condition of the gun, its model, its finish, and its upgrades.
We’ll break down those factors below so you can understand Taurus Judge 45 410 value and how it’s calculated in appraisal.
Value Factor 1: Condition

Values for used Taurus Judges are very sensitive to gun condition. Better condition means better value.
You can have your gun appraised by an expert to know its condition. This usually costs something. At Cash for Arms, we can do it for free online if you're selling things to us.
Once you know your gun’s condition, you can use these tiers to estimate value:
Like-New or Mint Condition
- At the top of the preowned Judge value range
- Perfect function but has never been fired
- No signs of wear or use
Excellent Condition
- Around 10% less than mint
- Near-invisible use marks
- Very rarely used
Very Good
- Around 20% less than mint value
- Used only occasionally
- Mild wear or handling marks
Good
- Around 30% less than mint value
- Used regularly but with care and maintenance
- Functions perfectly
Fair
- Around 40% less than mint Taurus Judge prices
- Used regularly but without care
- Worn, with possible mild functional issues
Poor
- At least 50% less than mint value
- Beat up and cosmetically questionable
- May have major functional problems

Value Factor 2: Taurus Judge Models
The Taurus Judge has come in several models or iterations. Here are the ones we see most often in resale.
Taurus Judge Value (Standard Version)
.webp)
The average used Taurus Judge is worth $180 to $400. A new Taurus Judge price sells for $550 at retail.
The first gun to be called a “Judge” came out in 2006 but is still produced today. It’s chambered for .45 Colt and .410 (2.5”) bore shells, at 5-round capacity.
The gun comes with 3” and 6.5” barrel variants today. For a time, there also used to be a 4” variant.
Taurus Judge Ultra-Lite Value

The average used Taurus Judge Ultra-Lite is worth $250 to $500.
The Taurus Judge Ultra-Lite was a lighter version of the standard 3” Taurus Judge. Through alloy-based construction, it shaved about 7 oz off the stainless steel version’s weight.
However, this also led to it having worse recoil. The Judge Ultra-Lite is no longer being manufactured, but is still available in the resale market.
Taurus Judge Public Defender Value

The average used Taurus Judge Public Defender is worth $200 to $400 (polymer) or $250 to $500 (stainless steel). A new Judge Public Defender costs $515 (poly) or $620 (stainless) at retail.
This Judge is based on the Taurus Model 85. Still a five-round revolver chambered for both .45 Colts and .410 shot, it’s even smaller than the regular Judge. That’s thanks to a 2” barrel giving it better concealability.
Taurus Judge Magnum Value

The average used Taurus Judge Magnum is worth $200 to $400. A new Taurus Judge sells for $550 at retail.
The Magnum version of the Judge is chambered for slightly bigger rounds than the standard. This one allows you to shoot 3” instead of 2.5” shotshells. It’s also significantly heavier for better recoil control.
Other than that, all other features are similar to the standard version.
Taurus Raging Judge Magnum Value

The average used Taurus Raging Judge Magnum is worth $700 to $1,500.
This discontinued revolver is one of the most sought-after Judges. It was a much heftier, bigger proposition than the current Judge and could even handle .454 Casull rounds.
Raging Judge revolvers can fire that, the .45 Colt, the .410 bore shotshell, and the .45 Schofield. Big, rare, and brawny guns.
Taurus Raging Judge Ultra-Lite Value

The average Taurus Raging Judge Ultra-Lite is worth $600 to $1,200.
The Raging Judge Ultra-Lite is the smaller, lighter version of the Raging Judge made of alloy steel. It can’t fire the .454 Casull, unlike the Magnum version.
It typically comes with a 3-inch barrel.
Taurus Judge T.O.R.O. Value

The average used Taurus Judge T.O.R.O. is worth $250 to $520. A new Judge T.O.R.O. sells for $605 to $665 at retail.
The Judge T.O.R.O. is the optics-ready version of the standard Judge with a 3” barrel. It’s available in alloy-steel and stainless steel configurations.
These are relatively new. As such, they don’t show up as often as other variants in the preowned market.
Taurus Judge T.O.R.O. Mag Value

The average used Taurus Judge T.O.R.O. Mag is worth $250 to $520.
Again, this is just the heftier version of the Judge T.O.R.O. chambered for 3” shotshells instead of 2.5” ones. It comes in the same finishes and barrel options otherwise.
Like the non-Mag version of the T.O.R.O., this isn’t a very common sight in used gun auctions or listings yet.
Taurus Judge Home Defender Value

The average used Taurus Judge Home Defender is worth $300 to $600. A new Taurus Judge Home Defender sells for $760 at retail.
This is a Judge with a 13” barrel, 5-shot cylinder. It takes both 3” .410 bore and .45 Colt and sports mounting rails in both the top and forward positions. It only comes in a matte black oxide finish.
Taurus Judge Executive Grade Value

The average used Taurus Judge Executive Grade is worth $375 to $750. A new Taurus Judge Executive Grade sells for $950 at retail.
This is the Judge version of Taurus’s hand-fitted Executive Grade series. Hand-assembled and hand-tuned, this sports a 3” barrel and has hand-polished grips. It still fires .410/.45 Colt and has a 5-shot cylinder.
Taurus Circuit Judge Value (Rossi Circuit Judge)
.webp)
The average used Taurus Circuit Judge is worth $350 to $700. The new Taurus Circuit Judge 45 LC/410 value is $850 to $900 at retail.
Also known as the Jury, this one’s technically made by Taurus’s sister company, Rossi. However, since it’s made in partnership with Taurus, most people call it a Taurus gun anyway.
This is a carbine version of the Judge with an 18.5” that comes with a forend and buttstock. It also fires .410 bore and .45 Colt.

Value Factor 3: Taurus Judge Finishes
.png)
There are four possible factory finishes for a Taurus Judge. These are matte stainless, matte black oxide, black polymer, and blued.
Blued
The blued finish is now discontinued and was only used on the earlier standard Judge. Pricing is about equal to the black oxide ones in the used market.
Black Polymer
These cost the least of all the currently produced finishes. The frame, cylinder, and barrel are still made of alloy or stainless steel – the finish is just black polymer.
At retail, these are often about $50 less than the black oxide ones. Used, they’re $30 to $50 less than them too.
Matte Black Oxide
Sober and handsome, the matte black oxide Judges are made of alloy steel cylinders, frames, and barrels.
At retail, they cost about $60 less than their stainless steel siblings. Used, they cost $20 to $50 less than them too.
Matte Stainless Steel
The most expensive of the current Taurus Judge finishes. In general, stainless Judges will get slightly higher resale prices ($20 to $50) than a Judge in the matte black finish.
It’s because stainless Judges are made of real stainless steel, which costs more than the black oxide guns’ alloy steel.

Value Factor 4: Taurus Judge Accessories and Upgrades

Upgrades aren’t common for Taurus Judges. Still, the T.O.R.O. variants and ergonomics do mean you’ll sometimes find ones being sold with aftermarket parts now. Here are the most common upgrades you’ll find on them.
Optics
Obviously, these are usually found on the T.O.R.O. models. The condition and quality of the optic affects the value-addition here. Holosuns ($200 to $300 new) are popular.
Value: Retain about 30% to 50% of the accessory’s original value.
Grips
This gun can kick a bit and some people don’t find the stock grip comfortable for long sessions when that happens. Popular grips are from VZ Grips ($85 new), Altamont ($72 new), and Hogue ($35 to $105 new) usually.
Value: Retain about 30% to 50% of the accessory’s original value.
